IMG_8726.jpeg IMG_8727.jpeg IMG_8730.jpeg IMG_8729.jpeg IMG_8728.jpeg Hi all,got this cool antique dark olive green (almost brown) bottle for the equivalent of about $2. Image search suggests it’s possibly a porter or whiskey (or maybe beer bottle) What do you think? Any way to tell if it’s either 18th or 19th century? (Just for interest sake) It stands about 20cm tall. Thanks

hold it up to a good light source (sun, ceiling lamp etc) and let us know what the colour looks like

some of the early black (dark)glass bottles are just really thick coloured glass

if not seeing colour sideways, try straight on at the base or lip (at an angle)

It looks to be mid 19th c. Collected bottles years ago, had over 300.
