I love collecting studio pottery and keep my eye out all the time for anything that has the feel of hand made. Since most of it is anonymous I go by the weight, is it balanced in my hand, how is the bottom treated, like a trimmed foot.
How it is signed/stamped. Here is one from a contemporary potter, I picked up from the thrift. 015.JPG 017.JPG Matthew Metz
His style is recognizable without the clear siggie.
After awhile a person starts recognizing the feel of a well made piece.
