"Studio" Pottery To Look For...

Found it while searching something else and thought I'd watch to see what it sold for. Beautiful vase in form and glaze, IMHO!

Here in the Midwest we look for Marshall Studios pottery. Usually marked MARTZ.

I love collecting studio pottery and keep my eye out all the time for anything that has the feel of hand made. Since most of it is anonymous I go by the weight, is it balanced in my hand, how is the bottom treated, like a trimmed foot.
How it is signed/stamped. Here is one from a contemporary potter, I picked up from the thrift. Matthew Metz
His style is recognizable without the clear siggie.
After awhile a person starts recognizing the feel of a well made piece.
