I need help identifying a pair of cut-glass trumpet vases from my father’s cut and pressed glass collection. Google Lens identifies them as Early American Pattern Glass Harvard Yard pattern made by Tarentum--similar but clearly not the same. (Pattern details & shape differ.) I may be wrong about cut vs pressed glass, but I think these are cut glass.

I know very little about glass, and I need to learn how to describe /name the individual cuts. Is there an online site or book with a list of descriptive names with pictures (line drawings)? I have been able to pick up a few terms, so I think these include Gothic Arches, Fans, and Diamonds, starburst on base. (Please correct me.)

That is very reassuring. I am a "point & shoot" photograph with a little Canon ELF camera. I bought black cloth at Walmart and draped it over a screen & table opposite a window to use as background. I found glass difficult to photograph because of the reflections & transparency, but I use a very old Photoshop program to adjust the images: grayscale to eliminate reflections of adjacent colors & autocontrast to increase sharpness & clarity. (My knowledge is rudimentary, only what I needed to adjust art images for powerpoints when digital replaced slides and I was trying to learn new ways for teaching art history. It was extremely difficult for me, but I became the first full-time person in my department to teach online courses. An adjunct faculty member did it first & helped me.)

they are lovely and so nice to have a pair:)

if you feel the pattern/designs, cut glass will feel crisp and sharp compared to pressed glass where the design lines/ridges will feel smooth and rounded.

I can't figure out what the design is on the bottom part - looks bumpy like maybe the 'Cubist' pattern? Just trying to understand what it looks like and that pattern came to mind:)

Good idea. I looked up those & found a few more FB glass groups so I applied for membership in two. Let's see if they take me.

I haven't used FB in years because I cannot get into my page. My email, phone number, and computer have all changed. Password is not enough. They send a code via text to a disconnected land line to prove you are you. They have no humans for customer support, and the online directions tell you to used the device you used previously. AI cannot understand that it is previous because it & its successors stopped working. Kobayashi Maru!

Yes, that part did not photograph well even when I pointed camera directly at it. It is a concave diamond design.
