I'd never heard of triplet "opals". Googled and I'm now better educated. :)

On a testing stone, that's how it works. If you apply 18k acid directly to silverplate on brass, it bubbles up and the foam turns green. I'm not sure about applying it to the real stuff. There's a difference between real silver and silver on white metal, but I'm not good enough to know how to tell someone to sort that one out. The stone is a lot easier.

If there's one thing I understand about the whole business, it's not to apply acid directly to the metal. Definitely will use the little stone I have, if I ever get up the nerve to do my own testing.

I only do it to determine scrap or junk. Either way, an acid mark won't matter.

this dopey kid just wacked a pipette on a table with the palm of his hand (when passing it)

and who gets a splash in the right eye.........(this fella) :(

casualty (hospital) for me, for a proper wash out (awful)

in sunny weather or brightness etc, still weak in that eye.....and tends to look like i got a wink going on without shades

what pi:muted::muted:ed me off the most, was the teacher was like :meh:

and i thought i was in serious bother ( hurt like maaaaaaad)

The mucus membranes of my eye were seriously angry, but there was no damage to the cornea. I was very lucky. Probably scared the teacher silly when I came back to school with a patched eye.

getting sand in my eye as a kid was probably worse though (was worse than acid if i remember rightly

was much younger and before the acid incidents but not nice at all

A friend cut her cornea with a newspaper, intensely painful, wouldn't heal properly because the organic matter left foreign DNA in the wound, kept partially healing, then opening up again. That's the worst I know of without someone losing an eye.

I once got attacked by boiling spinach.:D When I removed it from my cheek it took a chunk of skin with it. I had a dimple in my cheek for about 20 years, it slowly filled up again.:playful:
:nailbiting: I am glad the assistant principal kept a cool head and knew what to do.
