They're rather valuable too, not that it matters. They're Hoard Fodder,

I'm gonna make-up a bumper sticker that says- 'I'd Rather be picking in London!'.

I tell my husband all the time it isn’t hoarding, it is part of a collection. Therefore it feeds the soul!

Yup. A whole ten quid. I also bought a fabulous bead flapper necklace for fifteen. Happy bunny time. Oh, and an Amber one for a fiver. And yesterday, a mixed Amber and bead one for a whole quid.

Holy smoke. We know who's been getting the goodies! Ten squiddies for those... they had zero clues!

It’s still out there. I’ve an accomplice who frequents car boots and such with me, and she’s literally got a nose for gold. She also sometimes grabs stuff for no good reason she’s aware of and then shows me it. She got Georgian paste earrings that way. Me, I tend to look for quirky, obscure and I’m more interested, almost, in historical pieces than precious metals and stones. Doesn’t mean I don’t crow when I find those though.

She who sold me the shells and flapper is a nice woman, but she misses things. She knew it was flapper, but still sold it cheap. Raids her mother’s house and finds bits, and also buys at car boots and resells herself. I think she’s happy with a quick ish profit. I had an Italian 18 carat framed cameo from her once, she’d missed the marks.

I found a Peranakan belt earlier this year. I need to post it for shangas.

I found a sterling belt once, years ago. Sold it on to a dealer who loves silver. The seller (to me) was a consignment store trader who darned well should have known better. You have to love dealers who miss things; it also helps to know things they don't.

The one I found is probably plate, but for four quid, I wasn’t complaining. Bought from this odd but pleasant chap who seems to buy things in bulk at car boot sales, then sell them for less than he paid.

Quite the find. Especially from another dealer for that amount! Well done!

And shangas and aj both say it's silver. So even more of a result!

OBB-If we lived in old Londinium prob be completely broke from all the knick-knacking adventures, bus and underground tickets.
PS-Interesting factoid re Portland VS London muck-
'Portland, Oregon gets more total rainfall than London. London approx 24 inches/Portland approx 43 inches (varies by location in the city).'
...See,I knew there was a reason we were so culturally deprived out here-we're practically friggin' Atlantis !
