Vintage typewriters are quite collectible these days. Yours is a nice portable and likely from the 30s or later. Not one of the highly sought after models but it should have some modest value. Do you have a model number?

    Was Olympia an Italian maker?

    EDIT:
Olympia's original and primary manufacturing location was in Wilhelmshaven, West Germany, where the company produced its highly regarded typewriters.

I know Olivetti was. Not sure of Olympia. This site doesn't do values, despite what some lame search engine might say, but someone would like to have that. Kidsthesedays have typewriting parties and use letterpress as an art form. People used to be able to ID people from the way they typed. Hard to do that from an office printer!

Looks to be 30's. Olympia is a quality Maker. There's a good FB antique typewriter page.... you'll be able to find any history & production details here.

I'm sure it is. But how much depends on where & how you sell it. You know what you have. To see what it is worth you need to research how much others like it have sold for in the place where you would be selling.

Olympia is a respected German typewriter manufacturer. Very nice machine! Looks 1930s, pre-war. After WWII, those classic, round glass keys kinda died out. By the 50s they were completely gone.

Typewriters like these - the value depends on overall condition. Do they work? How well? Do they type?

Certain things need to be repaired/replaced. Usually the rubber rollers etc. A machine that types well and smoothly, will be worth more than one that needs servicing.

I used to be very into antique/vintage typewriters when I was a child (I grew up with them).

Just out of general curiosity, is it still possible to have restoration work done, such as replacement of the platen? Can one still find ribbons for these classic machines?

Ribbons are easily found on eBay and other such sites (AliExpress, etc). There are some repairmen around who replace platens and rollers. One technique I've seen is to use heat-shrink rubber tubing to resurface platens and rollers.
