Just got back from picking up this gorgeous vase by Matsuyama Gaei (or his family) from my local estate auction place. Never heard of him before researching, but the glaze is mesmerizing! His work was sent as gifts to Hirohito in 1953, Indian Prime Minister Nehru in 1956, and President Eisenhower in 1960. He passed away in 1963, but he taught the technique of Yohen Kujaku Tenmoku to his wife Tsutaku, who continued until passing it down to their daughter Kazuko. Great find Hoop! Impressive and stylish. The shape is a very old one, combined with surprising glaze colours.
