Man, your prices are great! Put another 0 on your price for most of what I 'find' out here.

I want to go shopping where Brad shops! I'm a major sucker for wood block, and that piece done as embroidery was gorgeous. Prices here, as Pottery said, would have another zero on the end and the decimal point moved over to the right. I can't even find a used jigsaw puzzle in a chain thrift for under $5.

Of the latest purchases, I have sold most. The Cohen sold quickly at $95.00. The UofI piece sold at $40.00. The Hiroshige print sold at $38.00. The string art piece sold at $35.00. The Deborah Fell mixed media piece (that I didn't really like but she has a following) sold. I had priced it $250.00. Sold at $190.00. Great return on my investment and I am a happy camper

Along with the two Veloy Vigil paintings shown in another thread (not yet offered for sale), I had a very good month. I need to get back out and beat the bushes but think this months worth of finds will be hard to beat. None of this is terribly valuable art but I think it shows that value can be found if you have a good eye and put yourself in a position to find what is out there.

I have been perusing Facebook Marketplace and have seen some works of interest. Almost all are more expensive that what I pay at the thrift stores but many are pretty reasonable. Sellers are not good at identifying artists or even showing signatures. Most would involve a bit of travel to have a look. Consequently, I have not sprung for any of them just yet. I think that day will come.

I've taken to perusing on line estate auctions too. Even bid on a few if they were local enough and had anything I wanted. I've seen art go begging in those too. Most of it's junk, but things slip through.

The universe thought you needed a balance for that very unfun trip to the hospital. :yuck: What a nice and quick return on investment!

I am a sucker for cheap original artwork. I buy a lot of questionable art, thinking I can make a buck on it somehow. There are very few paintings I find without much in the way of redeeming qualities. This is one. I could not bring myself to buy this for even $3.00.

THe best part of that was the frame, and it looks like a cheap frame.

Found this 7" x 13" etching print today, signed, numbered 31/80, and titled "The Fishing Boat." It definitely struck me as having been done by someone skilled.

Google Lens identified it, correctly, as being by Thomas Wood, a Washington state artist, 1951-2022.

The figure on the right reminds me of Bruegel's plump peasants.

Just scrolling through the original art found in thrift stores, it's amazing. My best buy was $1.50 for a 1950s print portfolio. It was in the book section. It was a special edition of the artist's work, and also had an etching. I sold the etching for $1000.

The funny (yet sad) part was, there were two worthless prints missing. It turns out the owners had framed those. They were in an estate sale for $50 each. The valuable piece was given to a thrift store.

On a happy note, I took a $500 decrease on the value of the etching. The buyer swore he was buying it for his collection. If that's true. He made out the best. Though I did pretty well for myself. I still have the prints. I can't give those away.
