This stone is on a honker of a 14k gold tie bar. I thought it might be a yellow sapphire. That’s a barely educated guess though. edit: I’d have removed the gnarly little hairs if I’d have seen them before taking photos. Often interesting what reveals itself on an item when you’re zooming into photos of it.

Get the stone tested by a professional,it may be a chrysoberyl cat's eye.

I was going to say that too. Catseye chrysoberyl, but test it to be sure. I don't know if the small stone is a diamond, white sapphire, colorles topaz, white beryl, or....? The fact that it's 14k makes me think sapphire or diamond, but Victorian and WWI jewelers would have used whatever looked good and was available.

Everyone is correct, cats eye chrysoberyl.
That coloration is called 'milk and honey'.
    Beautiful! I'm jealous!

I agree with Chrysoberyl Cat's Eye. Looks to be a very nice one too. It's in the Alexandrite family. There was another thread recently about CCE.
I have a few, but they are hard to come by in good quality.

Thanks guys. CCE is an interesting outcome for me! Not a stone I was very familiar with. I’ve seen them online but it wasn’t in my immediate mental Rolodex. The only one I knew of with “lines” (for lack of knowing a better term) off the top of my head were star sapphires, hence my guess. Thought maybe it was a yellow star sapphire that gave up being a star 33% through the job.

I was looking at it closer after seeing your posts and I think I unfortunately discovered a crack or fracture in the top of the stone. The top “prongs” are also uneven. It looks like where they meet the stone a fault line of sorts may have formed. I’ll get better photos in a few days. You can’t see it unless you are looking at it top down with a loupe but it looks like something is wrong there. Very sad. I paid up for this one but I at least bought it for a small chunk under melt and nearly a year ago, so melt has gone up a lot since then.

I had just assumed the top stone was a diamond but maybe it’s not. I do have a diamond tester so I can check that one. It’s a humdinger even if there is an issue with the main stone. I think a decent amount of potential buyers won’t be too worried about that as it seems totally stable at least. Who knows maybe I’ll even keep it. I’ve let go of some pretty great tie bars and cufflinks in the past. Even if I only wear it once or twice in my life it would be fun when I do.

It's fun to wear the fancy stuff. I gave a friend's fiancee a Mikimoto (sterling and pearl) tie bar to wear at his wedding. (The bride was 70+.) The tie bar then went to the man's grandson to wear in HIS wedding. Made me happy.
