    What is it?
    It seems to me that the mount on top was soldered later.

    This is Islam. I had a hunch that it was originally a piece from some ancient chess set.

    It appears to be solid/filled - is that correct?

    If it's only 2.5cm, it might be an earring dangle or a pendant that got loose. (that's an inch to us non-metric types. That size in solid metal could be too heavy for an earring, but would work handily on the end of a bookmark.

    It almost looks Indo-Persian from the decoration, but the shape is right for a weight.

    I was thinking along those lines to. Maybe East Asia as in Cambodia or Indonesian.
