I've melted many a piece of cheaply made gold and shoddy silver that was outclassed by vintage costume.

 

One word. Pandora.

 

Overhere we have a brand called "My Jewellery", which has already branched out to neighbouring countries. Slightly more stylish than Pandora, but similar mass produced rubbish which they market as personalized. And.... 100% waterproof, as they say!

Pandora I never understood the craze with that or Alex & Ani, Brighton stuff.

 

I don’t really buy modern stuff. My one exception is an Orkney based designer and maker called Sheila Fleet. Fabulous designs, really well made. And when I once phoned about something, she herself answered the phone.

 

Come the flood, they should be in good shape.

 

Agreed she has fabulous design & gorgeous things.

 

Never ran into her designs. Any jewelry maker who has an eponymous US shopping mall store gets a flat NO from me. That includes Tiffany.

 

Yes, that is a bonus, hadn't thought of that.

 

This is her stuff. Health warning needed, I’m drooling over several of the latest designs. I’ve got ogham and lunar universe amongst others. And runic. I think I now need the limpet, and mussel, and Orkney spirit…
