    Hey all!

This is "Enfant à l'Arc," known in English as "Cupid stringing his bow." I believe that the original was sculpted in marble by Charles Lemire in Paris in 1814. It appears that molds for reproducing the piece in bronze were produced in the 1830s, after Lemire's death.

This neoclassical piece is stylistically a bit earlier than most of the pieces here at Casa Grasshopper, but I love it for its size (about 2 feet high U.S.), execution, and material. BTW, it weighs 31 pounds. Cheers!! 1.jpeg

Ooooh, I'm a sucker for a chubby little boy!
My youngest, and only boy, was a chubby little guy and could have doubled for most Cupids/putti I see.
