I got three of these small cast brass half-heads in a lot of Indonesian 'stuff' (including two Yogya silver sifters:woot::woot:).
The seller believed these heads to be Indonesian as well, but I think they are European. They don't look Indonesian and don't fit in any Indonesian tradition, but they remind me of Gothic Revival cast brass pieces.
So I would love to hear your insights please.

I added a lighter for size.
The colour of the pics is a bit orange-pink, the light is fading here in NL.

    Thank you for looking.:)

My first thought was Art Deco.

I did an image check on Google and found a similar head
It was in Dutch but when I click the site it says it does not exist anymore.

The top part of the headgear above the screw reminds me of a court jesters hat

Looks like they were meant to be screwed securely to something else. That something else has to be thin enough to fit in between the back of the face and the square nut.
Thanks for checking. The link probably doesn't exist anymore because it is from the auction I won.;)

Yes, something like that. Which would fit in with a possible Gothic Revival origin.

"Art Deco bronzed metal figure of a court jester on a Bakelite base. Size 15 inches tall. The figure is in good condition and without any damage. The Bakelite base has undetected hairline crack. Overall a very attractive piece"

How thin? (Sorry, trying to get the quote in place - see next post)

About 1.5 cm, and the 'thing' it is attached to must follow the curve of the inside of the face.
So probably something metal, maybe a brass fire dog?

Does anyone think the lower 'leaves' of the headdress are meant to be pointy ears? Like a pixie or something similar?

Yes, an elf. From AI but IMHO reliable information.

"Elves are generally tall, elegant, human-like beings from Germanic/Norse myth, often powerful creators or nature spirits, while pixies are tiny, mischievous, winged sprites from British folklore, known for pranks, childlike play, and trailing pixie dust.
The main differences are size (elves tall/human-sized, pixies tiny), demeanor (elves aloof/majestic, pixies playful/mischievous), and appearance (elves with pointed ears, pixies with wings and childlike faces)."

My first mental response was Italian, probably because they looked like Dantè.

at this point I'm thinking I should post my lighter collection.......:hilarious::hilarious:

Normally , I'd think the screw ...was a poor design flaw.....but it oddly looks like it should be there ..;)

The back has Western stamped all over it. I have no idea what the sellers were thinking.
