Featured Souvenir moccasin coin purse from Montana

Pretty cool for a Dollar.
I was wondering what material it is. Deer? It is really soft and thin.
on one side it says souvenir Missoula Mont. The other side I read "a hot meal'
and "Post Cards'
How old would you say this might be?

I wonder if it had a shoelace at one time. Must have, no? Or to what purpose do the grommets serve otherwise? @komokwa may be able to confirm deerskin/not.

there was another one I saw that had a partial shoelace, but it looks like it would interfere with the opening of the purse.?

If it was sent through the mail like a letter or post card, the ties would keep it from being opened in transit. The recipient would take out the ties & could use it as a change purse. The sender could even enclose something in the purse before tying it. (Logical inference. I have never seen one.)
