Information re unusual 19th century desk

This desk (which has been in New South Wales, Australia since at least the 1950s) has two 'wings' (which appear to be drawers/cabinet doors until opened) which extend out to reveal many small storage spaces.

Firstly, is anyone able to please identify the wood? It is walnut? Oak?

Secondly, has anyone come across a similar desk and able to provide information about likely age, origin, maker, etc?

I see some nice burl wood treatment ..... but imo.... not oak.

can we see the locks?
are they marked?
sometimes the hardware can shed some light...

 

Looks like Victorian/Eastlake style - American.
Edited to add: Can we see the drawer joinery? A very similar one I just sold had Knapp dovetail joints which date from 1876 - 1900.

 

Yes, let's see the joints. I wouldn't be surprised if there was a secret drawer somewhere. I love Eastlake furniture.
