What is the function of this metal bunny with brass insert?

Hello! Found a new auction house and picked up some nice pieces recently (mostly Bohemian art glass) . I'm hoping you can help me with possible age and function of this metal rabbit. There is one brass insert and another smaller insert is missing. It was sold as an inkwell but I'm not sure? Any idea what the metal is (not magnetic)? No markings that I can see. It measures 8"L x 3"H x 6"W. Thanks as always!

 

With the two compartments, possibly for matchsticks and cigarettes.

It does, doesn't it. Don't think that's an inkwell and doubtful it's a cigarette holder too. A bit early for that, I'd think. But, on the other hand, what else could it be?

Could be for cordials and not whisky. You don't drink so much of a cordial so the bottle is smaller
