Hi all. Though I had a fever and ache from head to toe I wasnt going to pass up a chance to get out of this sick house ! Im paying for it now,I feel like death ! But I digress ! I walk into Hoodwill and as Im cruising thru I spot the jewelry box first. $3.99 made it jump into my cart. That gorgeous red silk interior. You know how I love a box. Then a little further down I spot the Goldcastle planters, also $3.99 each.In they go. Then I see the vase (yes, same price) and I fell in love ! I googled the vase and I *think* its Meji period but I couldnt understand what they said even with translate. I just got a feeling about the vase, though Asian items are not my forte and Im hoping you all can chime in on it. Many thanks in advance

I've had a similar box like that johnny, it was in a set of 3, jewellry box, then a larger one and a larger blanket chest.
They were Teak wood and the deceased family got them from Hong Kong.

I bet the jewelry box had an ornamental lock originally. Pretty thing.

Everyone needs boxes.:smug: The more the merrier!:woot:
The style of yours is the Shanghai style. Furniture makers from Shanghai brought the style with them when they moved to Hongkong. That was in the late 19th century, IIRC. So your box could have been made in either Shanghai or Hongkong.
You can buy replacement Chinese locks online.
