Saw this 12" tall painting yesterday and got a big kick out of it. It's a raucous lively piece and I get the feeling the artist painted this for a pint-like the spontaneity of the work-wonder if it hung on the wall of a pub somewhere a century ago (canvas dates to abt 1900) ?
Not the most well-painted piece I've ever seen, but it sure has a lot of enthusiasm to it !
    Really like it,but at $250 ???

He certainly had fun painting it.
That smock looks very English, as does the hat.
    Maybe for $150?

Agree AJ-Really fun genre piece but at $250 seems a bit dear ?

It's a fun painting - clay pipe and a pint and a happy face, but I wouldn't pay that much unless I had a bar to hang him in.

Exactly Ruth-The only thing I'm missin' is the Grade 1 Listed million pound pub and I don't have a 'Man Crypt' !
    PS-If I had a pub that could be a tax write-off ?

I'm surprised the tankard hasn't got a brewery name prominently displayed...It looks to be well done commercial art; whether it is or isn't, I like it, too!

Painting makes me smile. He certainly looks content, like he’s got everything he ever needed. But it’s way too much green (bar or not)

I wondered whether the clay pipe was meant to make him a caricature of an Irishman? Poking about, I see there is a genre of Irishmen drinking, sometimes Guinness promotional pieces.

The title seems to be Sinnington Rambler.

Mudlarks are forever fishing those pipes out of the mud on the Thames embankments. I think they were everywhere.

The first step in admitting you're an alcoholic:

That's very cool. It's a bit much at $250. But, if the seller has it for a while, offer $100, mentioning the few defects. They might counter with $150, and it's your's.
