Featured Whiting and Davis snake bracelet?

Am wondering if this is authentic Whiting and Davis and if so when might it have been made.

There is a stamp under the head marked Whiting & Davis co.

Thank you all for any help and info.

 

The internet says your bracelet is widely faked and the mark should read 'Whiting & Davis Mesh Bags Co.'

Yea i read too that it been faked too.i just found this online too tho which looks like a silver version of my one and the description says it from the 70s and that the gold version is featured in Julia Carrolls book,Costume jewelry 202 , if the seller is to be believed.I dont have access to this book to to check tho.

Unfortunately your bracelet is a fake - it's not just the mark, which should have the 'WHITING & DAVIS CO. MESH BAGS' mark, or on the older pieces, a 'W. & D.' stamp. It's not just the mark that's problematic, the quality isn't there - compare it to the design and quality of the head and tail, the much smoother transition to the mesh, and the way the scales of the mesh lay so much flatter on a genuine piece...

That’s quite a difference. I had no idea these were widely faked although we (I) don’t think we come across W&D widely in the UK.

 

Sigh. Hello Martin, unfortunately I randomly and mistakenly (I'm looking at you, Google lens) happened upon your post yesterday evening. With great reluctance and against my better judgement, I must inform you that the information you have received thus far is frankly incorrect and inaccurate. Your bracelet was indeed produced by Whiting and Davis, and it dates to the mid 1960s-70s. I chose to tell you this for two reasons: firstly, I am quite certain it was only with the best intentions people provided their "expertise." Even so, I was surprised and taken aback to discover how many individuals have spoken with misplaced authority on the subject of Whiting and Davis snake jewelry, when it is readily apparent (and may be easily proven) they are, quite simply, wrong, and there is no reason I should withhold the truth from you. Secondly, I was (justifiably) horrified to learn someone found it seemly to attempt to disparage my own knowledge and personal character in the comments. It is of little to no consequence to me should you choose to ignore this, and I am thoroughly disgusted with myself for bothering to waste my time "defending" myself when I am in no doubt it was done in a thoughtless fashion. And again, I wish to stress that undoubtedly people took the time to answer your query solely in an attempt to be helpful. However in future I recommend you look elsewhere should you require anything resembling professional information or authentication on a vintage or antique item. (I write this knowing full well it is entirely possible I will be the recipient of much ranting, raving, and foaming at the mouth, but I really and truly hope anyone wishing to reply to this message in the aforesaid manner at least attempt to refrain from doing so. Should said individuals be lacking in self-control and find this ask to be impossible, please know my glee in providing actual verifiable facts in response will be directly proportionate to any base or unwarranted insults to myself or my intelligence. I have no idea as to what you wish to do with your bracelet, but rest assured it is undoubtedly and indisputedly a Whiting and Davis piece. Best regards.)

 

You didn't explain who you are, but I take it you are the seller of the listing Martin posted in reply #3.
Reading the thread, I see no attempt to disparage your knowledge and personal character in any of the comments.
Unfortunately you didn't mention which post made you feel this way. Maybe you referred to this post by the owner of the bracelet:

That is not a reflection on your character. Martin simply didn't know if information found on the internet was true or false, which is valid in this day and age.

Now this is an attempt to disparage the knowledge and personal character of our members. Many of them are very knowledgeable in fields you probably know very little about or haven't even heard of.

How many of these individuals did you actually count? Only one person said Martin's bracelet was a fake. Nowhere did she mention you name or your listing, btw. But if you are of the opinion that she was wrong, please provide evidence to support your claim.

So instead of insulting individual people and lashing out at an entire forum, try to convince us that your assessment of Martin's bracelet is right.
This can be done in the civil tone of the posts before yours, because negativity and attack are never convincing arguments, and we are not that kind of forum.
