    FWIW: AI also says Tunisia:
"R.C. SFIA" pottery refers to ceramic items, specifically plates, made in Tunisia, likely by a manufacturer in Nabeul. The exact manufacturer is not widely documented in general search results, but the mark is found on specific items like an "ancien plat en céramique de Nabeul R.C. SFIA Tunisie" (old ceramic plate from Nabeul R.C. SFIA Tunisia).

    General Information
    • Origin: The pottery is identified as being from Nabeul, Tunisia.
    • Mark Details: The mark itself is "R.C. SFIA".
    • Known Items: The mark is associated with various types of items, including plates and other ceramic ware."

Tunisia! Well, that would explain the French. So would be expect pre-1956?

Well, I'm late to the party, and was getting to Tunisia. Yes, if it says France, it would have to be pre-1956 when French occupation ended. Style wise, it hearkens back to older days, but could've been made anytime likely from the 30s to 50s.

Cool, but what means 'R. C. SFIA'?
    There are doubts about Tunisia

Royal Céramique Sfia. "Sfia" (صفية) is a female first name in Arabic. The mark clearly says Nabeul.

    Here's a newer company logo.
