Hello all! I need your help.
I bought this at the thrift today. Very unlike me to buy a porcelain piece that's not an animal.
I was taken by the organicness of it. It's practically alive! I think it is porcelain because the bottom is very smooth like my fine porcelain animals. My first thought was Austrian, but really, I don't know and can't find a match. It is 10 and 3/4 inches tall. 27.31cm.
Any and all opinions are welcome. Thanks so much!

Image searching the entire image just gave me many Art Nouveau things. I then used its unique detail, the shape of the opening. This came up in that search. ;)

    Thanks so much all!
One more question please. Has anyone ever tried to restore worn gold gild on something like this? Is it best to leave it alone?

i was thinking the same thing.......and really think that would be the icing on the cake ;)

can't remember if these blush ivory types are glazed or not........i'm thinking not with that wear, so touching it up might be easier

wondering if the gilding went right down to those bottom details as well

looks like the example roaring found has been touched up......and green

the gold you add would have to be darkened to match though as gilding darkens (especially after so long)

You can buy little bottles of gold leaf. It comes in numerous shades.
You may have to do a little blending into the original gold, but it worked well for me.

I think it has a matte glaze. I would leave it alone. It would be fairly obvious, and worn gilding, although not desirable, is not a huge detraction and honest wear

    Agree. Honest wear from age.

it would niggle at me (its just the central handle part that annoys), but when you take into account how extensive the gilding is....agree maybe right to leave
