    Vintage? Pretending to be vintage?
What type of stone is it (pretending to be)?

Stone looks like jasper, but could be glass. What does it look like from the back?

Hard to tell what colour the chipped bits are. Sometimes they look white, but at another angle it looks more golden

From what I can see, looks more ceramic. I don't think back would have been covered if there hadn't been something to disguise.

It looks like the stone is glued onto the back plate. Most of the maker's I know never have an open back on pendants.

Pewter and ceramic probably - 70s is my guess.

Indeed glued. I already thought this would be the case, and just now, I checked it with a loupe and the glue is visible around the edges.

Realize this guidance is particularly true for cameos: unless the structure requires the back to be covered, it if often concealing the telltale flat back of resin masquerading as shell.

Doing a quick search through pendants I have that are stones mounted in silver, of 4 that have genuine stones, 2 are covered, 3 are not. The three by the same artisan have 2 covered backs & 1 not. One with a manmade 'stone' is covered.

The appearance of the chips, along with something about how the stone is mottled, tends me to ceramic for this one.

I will check the chips again tomorrow with natural light. And by 'tomorrow' I mean 'in a few hours... as it's 5 am here... :D
Time to go to bed

Might be the glue you said was visible, but doesn't change my impression.
