Featured Some type of plastic loupe marked C.O.I.L. Made in England?

Anybody have any idea as to the material or the age?

2 1/4" by 1 1/8" when closed, 3 3/4" long when opened.

I searched using the way it was marked.

 

Must be an acronym they no longer use. Ah, C.O.I.L. stands for Combined Optical Industries Ltd.

I like it.

The term thermoplastic celluloid confused me though, because I thought celluloid was thermoplastic by definition. So I searched a bit, and it is. Turns out Xylonite is another brand name.
To make things difficult, everything I found on Xylonite takes us back to celluloid.
