Sherwood Lamp?

Hello everyone. I have a brass oil lamp that I need help identifying. I think it might be Sherwood, and is a ships lamp. Any help is great.

I just looked in my Sherwoods lighting book - your burner is a Sherwoods wedge burner for a ships lamp, but they don't show any lamps like yours.
How does it work?

 

Hello. It has no glass or door for light to shine from. Once lit, I think the tank and burner were replaced, and the light reflects down through the hole in the tank. I have not seen a oil lamp like this before. I'm stumped.

I've been looking but not seeing anything like your lamp - maybe @Ladybranch will see your post and have information for you. If I find anything out I'll let you know

 

I think your lamp with the Sherwood wedge burner is a ship's Compass Binnacle oil lamp such as the following ones. Now the following lamps have the same overall appearance as yours, but are longer with the cylinder having a hinged door window. The bottom part of the cylinder with the window may be missing from yours. With all hohesty, I know nothing about these lamps as to how they work.
