These two pieces belong to a friend of mine. Her mother had each made during the 1950s or 60s from rings belonging to her mother. My friend says they're not marked. She says she'll never wear them and is is thinking of selling. I know nothing about diamonds.

    Thoughts?

Apologies for the photos. I've asked her to measure each large stone across.

Is there a reputable jeweler she can take these to so they can be tested?

The atomic ring design is very of its period. 1950s.

Definitely have a local jeweler look them over, and then sell in a real auction house. The center stone in the pendant is over a carat, and that's the threshhold for being pretty vs being money. I"m not good enough to eyeball the ring.

I would take them to a GIA accredited business for an appraisal. You'll get all the info on the diamonds and a retail replacement value. It may cost a couple hundred bucks, But it should be worth it. Don't expect to sell it for the appraised amount though. It's good to have for insurance purposes too.
The diamonds look to be decent. It's so hard to tell from a picture, but the center stone of the ring looks to me to have a carbon spot or 2 and looks a little cloudy in places. BUT that could easily be reflections and lighting. A GIA appraisal will tell you.

..and that the friend's rocks are worth a pile. Diamonds fell off for a while due to the new lab-made ones, among other things.
