IMG_6362.jpeg IMG_6369.jpeg IMG_6368.jpeg IMG_6367.jpeg IMG_6374.jpeg Hi all, many similar examples on line, but I thought great for $1. This took some serious hand carving out of a solid piece of hard wood. Looks to have some honest age and is skilfully done (I thought) It stands 29cm tall and weights about 750g. Can this be antique? Or more likely vintage? Looks like a candlestick?

    Apparently:
The figure is either a fisherman or possibly Shou Xing Gong, the God of Longevity.

    Any thoughts appreciated. Thank you

Or a lamp base, with holes for an electric wire? Or don't they connect?

Thanks AJ. Did also consider a lamp base at first. Also just found out that the top two holes actually connect (after your comment) But would the electrical wire then run on the outside of the lamp (that would look pretty ugly?) Also the top hole is really small for a lamp/bulb fitting but it could work I think.

I held an identical statue in my hands today at a thrift store! :wideyed: Well, almost identical, as I don't think the one I saw had those holes, and it looked a lot younger than this one.

Must be a popular type of thing (and probably still being made) there are also many similar ones online.
