Teddy Bear I.D.?

  1. This teddy bear belonged to a relative back in the 1950's although I don't know if it was purchased new at that time or was already older when it was acquired. It has a red felt tongue and black felt nose as per the photos, and it is a smaller bear, the arms and legs are not jointed. The back appears to have a seam in the back (see photos). The eyes are amber color and probably plastic, although I don't know for sure the material. The bear is stiff, like the filling is some sort of stiff material. It is not plushy or squishy. Not sure what type of material is covering the bear, whether it is mohair or what it is. There are no identifying tags or labels or anything else on this bear that I can utilize to I.D. it. The location of the relative when they had it was in Los Angeles, California. Some people on a different forum at ebay suggested that it is a British manufacture but I have no idea. Any ideas? Thank you so much!

I'm no help but I just wanted to thank you for bringing about the "blast from the past" fond memory of mine. Your stuffed animal looks like the bear version of my beloved childhood stuffed rabbit of the early 1960s. And, though I'm American, mine was a gift from an English grandparent.
I wonder if yours is stuffed with excelsior...? Unfortunately, I don't remember what mine was stuffed with. Definitely something not as soft as today's polyfill.
I still regret getting rid of Bunsie during a house move when I was in my 40s.
