I think this mark was mentioned before on Antiquers, but I didn't find the thread.
Is the S2 mark to indicate that it's plated/a lower grade silver, and is this used in a particular country?

Beautiful set. They are Djokja/Yogya silver, .800 fineness, so real silver.
S2 would be the maker, but it isn't your usual Djokja mark and it isn't in my list of Djokja maker's marks.

Djokja/Yogya silver is made in Kota Gede near the city of Yogyakarta in Central Java, Indonesia. Most Djokja silver of this type was made from 1930-1955. The decorations originated in the Hindu-Buddhist period on Java.

Cool! I might have guessed European (Scandinavia) but Indonesian is new to me, and I like them a lot!

Ha, that's an answer I didn't expect :woot:
I also thought it would be European. Definitely with Google trying to push me in that direction, with Google AI narrowing it down to 'Germany, Poland ....or another European country'

Hey, you're in the Netherlands, Djokja country!:playful: Most Djokja silver was made for Dutch tastes and shipped to the Netherlands, in order to support craftspeople in "the colonies". Those craftspeople used to work for the Javanese aristocracy, and continued to use the old techniques and decorations, only on European style cake forks, ashtrays etc.
Only a bit more to the southeast than Germany and Poland.:wacky::hilarious:
