Trying to decide what to do with this dresser. I believe it was my grandfathers, late 1800s early 1900s, he lived in New Jersey, USA. It is missing some moulding and the legs are broken. However it appears to be complete other than that.

It is 38 inches wide, 23 inches deep, and 48 inches high.

Not having the moldings is a big deal. Replicating them and getting the angles correct for attachment is not something most novices can do. Suppose removing them from the drawers could be a possibility. You would, then, have to sand and match the finish where they were attached. I suppose painting the drawers would be another option. The repair of the broken leg is also not the easiest thing. Cutting the legs down might be the quickest solution there.

All in all, this is a basket case with little value as-is. When I was younger, it is the kind of project I might relish taking on for the challenge and restorative value. These days, I would probably set it curbside and hope someone takes it away.

I spoke with a restorer today who also said it had little value, even if restored. I think I will make a solid base for the bottom, maybe with a hidden drawer. Since there is little value, I may just replace all the molding instead of trying to match. Thanks for all the input. It is really a cool dresser

Does anyone know where I might be able to get 1 of the pulls? Or what they are called?

replacing them is not a bad idea. These have always pulled out of the socket about 1/2 the time
