Winter is still here in Michigan but the snow is starting to melt. That means my favorite hunting grounds for good loot, "Dixieland Flea Market" is showing signs of life with parking lot venders braving the still chilly temperatures.

The 1st weekend didn't disappoint! I was told by the experts at Google Lens, esq, that this is an Apache War Shirt. Of course, I say that with the slightest amount of humor...

Anyway, it certainly looks handmade from a slab of deer hide. The buttons look like bone (perhaps from the same demised deer?)

    So, whatcha all think?

Antler buttons imo. And yes, deer antler, but the antler was probably shed naturally.;)

Commercially tanned leather with the grain/hair side intact, not native brain tanned. The fringe is even, square, and looks mechanically cut. Stitching deliberately "rustic". Traditional shirts were pullovers, and did not use buttons of any sort.

I imagine this stain might have been left by a maker's label -

Not nearly as old as it wants to be, but it would be great Reinactor gear.

its awesome ! , surprised people are saying no age, when it looks totally lived in. all that creasing to the arms from use, and the dirty neck stitching.

i don't know squat about its origin etc, but know authentic aging when i see it
