I have a set of 9 of these Chippendale dining chairs, but my table needs 10. I know this is probably a fool's errand, but if anyone knows of an exact match -- or can point me to discussion groups or forums where dealers might see my query -- Or can offer any suggestions as to how to going about finding a single matching chair -- I would be eternally grateful. 20260304_151110 1mg.jpg 20260304_151949 1mg.jpg

I was thinking the same thing. We had 4 + 2 chairs, and it worked well together.

What can you tell us about what you already know? Do you know the maker, the age etc. Are there any maker marks? What is the construction like underneath, that sort of thing. What country are you in?

8 of the current chairs are exact matches. The 9th is (I assume) the host chair - the only difference is it has arms. The back, seat and legs are identical to the others. I'm not at the house at the moment, but will look tomorrow to see if there's any maker's mark or distinctive features. Many thanks for all the replies!

You're missing the other arm chair. There were usually two, one for husband and one for wife, the rest for family. Rather than a second arm chair, you might consider an upholstered chair with the same upholstery. Or 2 upholstered arm chairs and put the original somewhere else. I think you might never find an exact matching chair. I assume you've searched the rest of your beautiful house for it and it's not in the basement or attic? A lot of folks are in the same situation (where the dog chewed one chair or the cat scratched it into oblivion) and have done some clever things to get their set to look coordinated. Good Luck with it!
