Coin Changer

Not sure where this came from, but I've had it a long time. Never had occasion to use it.

 

They were great to have at garage sales a long time ago.

One of the many once useful items that have become obsolete...

 

I had one as a child, something my dad must have picked up somewhere. I loved it. No idea where it went.

 

I have one; they used them on trolleys, a century ago.

 

Our paperboy (also obsolete) had one for anyone too cheap to say "keep the change". I used to love it when the newspaper arrived on the front porch, not so much when they started tossing them at the end of the driveway to get wet and run over.

When the newspaper got wet, my mom would put it in a low oven to dry out. It would get a little crispy. She had to carefully separate some of the pages so they wouldn't stick together. Just couldn't waste a perfectly good newspaper.

 

I certainly remember these in use at a lot of different places. Handy thing to have when doing transactions on the fly.

 

I have a dealer friend who carries one of these in her purse for coins! Always thought it was cool.
