Hi. Does anybody recognize this? It's blown glass with a highly polished pontil. The overlay is marked sterling. It's 8 1/2". The photos are a little dark. Yeah, there's dust on the bottle. IMG_5139.JPG IMG_5141.JPG IMG_5137.JPG IMG_5142.JPG

No idea, but I'd have bought it too. Love the red.

Get a silver or jeweler's cloth and shine up that silver! It will look amazing.

Wonder why it isn't shinier? My Wedgwood tea set has platinum on it and it does have a darker grey colour than silver, but it is shiny.

It's marked Sterling. So, I assumed it was silver. Yeah, that grey color is odd. So uniform and dull. I thought I knew how silver tones.

If it's marked silver, that is what it is.

It s not silver overlay but silver deposit. Silver overlay is thicker, hand applied to conform to the contours of the piece. You can get your fingernail under silver overlay. Silver deposit is thinner, more like a painted design. You should be able to see white behind the silver if you look at the inside.

Ive had decanters like this before and they do polish up very well. Risk of polishing right through to the glass if they are worn though.

Which is why a silver cloth is best.

I use a foaming silver polish like Wright's, works well :)
