Purchased this basket at a church rummage indianbasket.jpg sale, but don't know anything about Indian baskets. Google image search suggests Pima or Apache... any basket experts have any ideas on what this is? Thanks in advance!

That's a great one. Looks Akimel O'odham to me (formerly (and sometimes still) known as Pima).

Definitely a nice basket. I would like to see more photos - of the back, and closeups of the coil materials, particularly areas where the foundation may be exposed between the stitches. It looks like the foundation of the coils might be rods (thin sticks of willow or cottonwood), which would be more characteristic of Apache basketry than Akimel O'odham (Pima) or Tohono O'odham (Papago).

Agree--2mb is right of course: the foundation material will be key to identifying its origin.

I had one like it and it was given to me by a NA friend who bought it in New Mexico or Arizona. He made jewelry and would go on a turquoise buying trip each year.
