apocryphal Ming mark how old is this piece?

    Pretty sure its not Ming. But could this have been made in Kangxi period? From a recent auction.

    look at the left side of that tree. why is it cut off like that?

    The mark is Xuande, according to gotheborg. Could the scene be a decal?

    Doesn't look like a decal to me. Looks hand painted both in the example from SS and the linked example. I believe the scene looks "cut off" on the edges because they masked the bottom flat part of the bowl/plate when painting it, if that makes sense. I'd guess both examples are Qing rather than Xuande/Ming. The translated page in the linked example says that it is from the Yongzheng period - although I'd take that with many grains of salt.

    why would you need to mask it if you were hand painting it?

    on the one that Roaring posted, more of the left side of the tree is showing. WHich suggests the use of a stencil or some such. WOUld that call into question the Yonghzeng dating? or did they have that stuff then?
