Leather bound snuff box?

This is one of those items that Google Lens really struggles with. It doesn't seem to be able to get any context. It keeps trying to tell me that it's a bucket! It's a bit on the large size for a snuff box but who knows. Its made of wood and has leather bound sides with brass bevelled edges holding this in place with pins. 8cm diameter..

 

Does the lid fit tightly? If so it could be a table snuff or tobacco box, if not, probably a trinket box for whatever will fit in it.

 

It's quite loose. I guess too loose for snuff. Good logic thanks. Have you any idea of age and origin please?

 

Kinda looks handmade rather than factory. Could be 20 years old, could be a hundred, Im clueless!

 

That looks like a recent-ish Asian import.
