I went by a little Haitian 2nd hand store on the way home from a doctor appt today & bought this beautiful painting for only $20! I also bought a large floral painting for another $20 which the owner said was also Haitian.
But for the life of me I can not make out the artist's name!
    Any help would be appreciated.
PS - And now it looks like I have another shop I will be checking out each day on my way home from my regular thrift store hunting!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Hm, the second line looks like it could be Castillo... but I would expect a Haitian artist to have more of French sounding name. The first line looks kind of like Bancis or Banlis. But nothing comes up with that...

I was going to propose Francis & Castillo seems like a good fit too, to my eye.

Oh, I don't think so. Not my subject matter but can't fault execution. Certainly worth exploring further.

The cows feet are floating on top of the grass. They have no eyes. The ocean on the back is just one grey and green line. The boats in the back are not that great. I just don't see skilled work here.

Of course art appreciation is in the eyes of the beholder but... I see a sugar mill in the background with mountains just behind.

Yes, and the men are clearly harvesting sugar cane. Sugar cane is grown on many of the islands, and mainland South America as well.
