Large Canvasback Decoy LW

Anyway to figure who is LW?

 

It may be made from canvas, but it isn't a "canvasback" decoy. That's an entirely different type of duck. This is either a swan or snow goose decoy, made with canvas and wood.

This style of decoy originated on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, which might indicate a place to start research.

The rather odd looking neck and head would indicate that it is either a replacement, or a piece made for someone's own use. (Or possibly a decorative piece made during the folk art craze some years ago. It doesn't show much wear from use.)

Initials were usually those of an owner, rather than a maker, although sometimes they were the same person.

Thanks. The canvas appears to have repair but not sure if the neck is later addition.
