Grabbed these at a sale a while ago for a song. I thought they might be pretty early at first glance. Potentially with orignal paint. Took them out recently and the more I look the less age I see. The bases particularly don’t seem to show much age. Orignal paint I saw maybe is just grime and wax. Anyhow my own thoughts on these are not proving helpful. What do y’all see? 6” tall. IMG_0227.jpeg IMG_0228.jpeg IMG_0229.jpeg IMG_0230.jpeg IMG_0231.jpeg

Hmm. . . I see homemade, maybe shop class. When I was a youngster (about 1950s), it was a thing to salvage spindles of any kind, from tables or furniture, and convert them into candle sticks. I have a tall pair that my great aunt made, I'm told from table legs, they're really neat. These look stained, not painted.

I am diving into genealogy these days so lots of random memories are popping up. We had a brass candlestick on a wooden base (teak, I think) that was crafted by one of the Norwegian relatives. It was rather nice and now I wonder what happened to it...
