Vintage? Antique? cast brass and sterling brooch

    I'm not sure what to think about this brooch. When and where may this have been made? It looks cast to me; the center decoration is marked 925. A newer studio piece made to look older maybe? The pin 'hinge' is one I haven't seen. The one remaining stone (I'm assuming glass) is a purple color. It measures approx 2" by 3/4". Thanks for your thoughts!     You are correct - it is cast, is there a small rounded stone missing also?

    I've never seen a pin "hinge" quite like that, following..

    Yes, I think it's missing 2 stones, one round and one shaped like a leaf or navette. The hinge has me real curious.

    There have been a number of similar clasp posted in the past.It is like a safety pin clasp.
