Found this in a "Vide Maison". Couldn't see it at the time (wrong glasses?) but it is marked. So, my question is - does anyone know anything about late 19th-early 20th century Sarreguemines, France?

    The marks are:
    SARREGUEMINES
    60
R (little capital on its side)
    E (large capital)

I wondered whether it is a 'gentleman's travelling shaving box'? If not - what is it?

Also IS it late 19th-early 20th century?

I love it - and am about to use it as ... a gentleman's (that's me!) travelling (to and from the bathroom!) shaving box!!

I don't know about the maker, but to me this looks like a toothpaste pot. I have a number of similar ones, although they have a brand stamp/transfer on top of the lid.

    Dimensions would certainly help. ;)

    The dimensions?
    Height 6.5cm/2.5 inches
    Diameter 9.5cm/3.75 inches
It was for soap ... and some of their boxes contained 'Bear Grease' ... made from real bears (gulp!) - these were for men who wanted a stronger beard!! And I think the French forum are seeing it as a soap dish container ... similar thing really. It is going to make a great shaving soap box!

I think its too big for toothpaste powder - I'm going with the French on this.
