Plant table? or Lamp table?

    I got this beautiful hand-carved table from an antique shop through my parents.
    It is 0.70 cm high and has a diameter of 0.30 cm.
    It naturally has a normal wood color which was once painted black.
    Who can tell me more about this?

    Would say this looks like a fairly modern import. Indonesia would be my thought but possibly Chinese.

    Not sure what this means. Is it painted black now?

    I'm with Brad, Indonesian made, based on a 19th century European plant stand. Probably made on Java.
    Yes, it is from the Dutch 'eens', which means once, but can also be translated as 'once upon a time'. We use it more often than English-speakers would use 'once'.

    Be careful.....I have had Indonesian furniture explode - sounds like shot gun! The wood is never cured long enough.......

    Agree with the others.....ca. 1880 Victorian-inspired, made in SE Asia.
