What kind of wood is this box?

    I'm helping my older son sell some stuff and I'm not a wood expert.

    Looks a bit like burl walnut but could be some sort of exotic hardwood. Thuya and koa wood come to mind but there are others.

    Cherry Burl is also a possibility. I’m at a piece I have right now and looks very similar.

    Same here. Some sort of burl wood box. I'm looking at mine. It has an old antique store tag on the bottom, but no lettering. It's an inventory tag.

    When I looked up thuya there were lots of them. Moroccan thuya burl wood. Brad was spot on as usual!

    Google lens says burl walnut. But AI isn't always right!
