Now this is a lot of "BULL" - origin??

Found this in a box of china sundries bought from an
    auction. It's 38cm(15") x 15cm(5.9") x 30cm(11.9") high
and weighs only 2.13Kg(4.7Lbs) so it's hollow. No makers
stamps to indicate who made it or where it came from
but given the colors of the band around the neck I'm
thinking Bolivia or Ethiopia. What do you think?
    Ever seen one??

    Cheers
    Stephen

Thanks, Bev. Those are definitely so much more refined.

Mexican, surely then. Here's a souvenir toro. Misc's bull is still much less "polished". Folk art? I do love the expression, and I think it's very appealing. imagesXO93QFS0.jpg

The ones we saw in Spain were all black which is why I would vote for Mexico.

I'm still leaning towards Bolivia partly because they do a lot of bullfighting there and partly because their national flag colors are the same as the band around the bulls neck.
Those Dala horses are interesting. Thanks for that GaleriaGila.

    GaleriaGila Hola, y'all!

My bull up there is from Oaxaca, Mexico... forgot to say that.

Impressive point about Bolivia's flag colors!

I knew I had seen this bull before, finally found it, and this whole site went down when I went to post a reply last week!

So, belatedly, he is illustrated on page 138 of The Popular Arts of Mexico, by Kojin Toneyama, and identified in the caption as being from Metepec. Same colors and patterns on his neck, but with white body and red legs...and wearing a hat. But other than that, he looks like he was made by the same person.

Granny shades. They fit over my glasses. I used to get prescription sunglasses, but kept losing them. Too expensive.
