    Hi everyone,

Continuing in my quest to corner the market on all things silver. Here's a quick game for those interested. Try to pick a few (or as many as you'd like) items that you would have inquired about based on these photos. I'll share the details once people that want to comment have time to do so:

    Title: Silver pieces
Description: Several silver pieces. $25 for all of them

I'd be looking at the perfume bottle, that pierced-work bowl, the trinket box I can't really see, and those charger whatsits with what looks like an engraved baby carriage. The tray and pitcher are just a waste of postage. The bottom half of the goblet is a waste, period.

First pic. I like the oval dish on the right, the bud vase, the little box and the two round plates with the circular engraved motif. Tray looks thin base metal and the jug looks like plate. Not sure about the perfume bottle though.

You guys have great eyes, those are all really good guesses. When I'm looking at a lot like this, I'm trying to see if there is an item or items that I should get details on first. For me, this was the little pill box and the oval basket behind the pitcher. I'm dealing with a seller that doesn't live close by, so I have to choose the information I request carefully. If I pester them for a ton of photos, they may get annoyed due to the effort to satisfy my requests. So here's the photo they sent me of the oval basket and the pill box:

Note: that's not a good mark for the bread basket, but useful information to me as I'm trying to decide what items I would like to ship. In my mind, anything I can throw into the mix along with the pill box increases my odds of finding more silver. So at this point I don't ask for anymore photos. I took a shot to request photos of a few items that I found most interesting, and then it's my job to guess on items that could potentially be silver. I ended up requesting everything laying on the tray except the water pitcher, and the two round plates laying flat in the front left of the photo. Admittedly, I skipped over the oval dish on the right of the first photo, as I didn't think it looked right. Now that I've taken a closer look, I definitely could have inquired based on the look. I've seen some real silver items with that tone, but I didn't consider it immediately due to the even nature of the tarnish. I'll update everyone once the package arrives, probably in 3 days or so.

For anyone curious, the package arrived today. Turns out I got three silver items, so I was quite happy with the results:

They dont get suspicious when you ask for additional pictures ? I would think that would tip them off !

What was the Towle sterling piece the lid to? I don't see it in the original group photos you posted.

It's right here (i forgot I asked for it), it has another small piece of metal on top of it, and great job on the guesses!

Very rarely, but it does happen. In most cases, people are happy to offer some additional photos without any questions on why I'm asking for them. If they do inquire, I usually mention I'm trying to identify the maker or the condition.

Circa 1980s 'Beauty Marks' - if it's kind of heavy and stamped 'Weighted', then it's the top to a crystal powder jar (I have one, given to me new); if it doesn't say that, it's the lighter weight purse mirror. The same pattern was made in electroplate...

The first option then, it's heavy and stamped weighted and reinforced with a mirror on the opposite side.

The perfume bottle still has its stopper - bonus!
