Okay guys I am sorry, I don't have pictures of these. I can get them but they are at the gallery right now and I am not. A guy brought in several boxes of items he wanted to consign. Most of it has been pretty straightforward stuff. In one of the boxes was a ceramic rabbit (a mother and babies dressed in clothes) they are separate pieces that can also be placed side by side to make a larger piece. The babies are separate from the mom and are in a little basket. The mom is holding another baby and wearing a hat. They aren't expensive looking rather cheap looking stuff honestly. I was actually planning to put them in the take this back box but then thought well the auction is the day before Easter, so why not.

Here is what is weird about them and I have been trying to figure it out. They have sand or rice or something inside them so they make noise when you shake them. You can't get to the rice, sand or whatever it is you can only hear it. Kind of like a rattle but of course they are ceramic and I can't imagine giving it to a kid to shake. It just seems like a bad design idea all the way around. Anyone ever seen anything like this and why on earth would it have sand in it?

Isuspect what you have is simply loose fired bits of clap that came off in the making.

I've seen plenty of bookends that were slip cast porcelain, filled with sand and plugged with plaster to add weight, but that doesn't sound like the case here.

    I'd like to see them.
I'm guessing sand for weight...................but keep some Penicillin handy. ;)

Pictures do make all the difference. I was imagining a set more like these (only bunnies):

I almost didn't post the bookends comment because it seemed irrelevant.
