Signet Ring Egypt 1960s hallmarks

    My impression is that no self-respecting Egyptian would wear 12K gold. Gold jewellery made for tourists is routinely of this fineness. For the domestic market, 18K seems to be the minimum, with 21K common.

    Sounds like grandad had the time to order something custom made of better quality. Perhaps he started by buying the cuff links & the merchant suggested the ring to go with them.
