Bracelet

Does anyone know anything about this costume jewelry bracelet? It is gold filled; the stamp reads: "EB 1/20 - 10K GOLDFILLED".

I found that the EB is for Engel Bros, Inc of New York, NY from 1931 to at least 1965. Of course this does not make it an antique ;-)

There are etchings on the stones. Do you think the etchings are just for decoration or is there some significance in the etchings. Any ideas?

How about the stones? Any ideas if these are just glass?

These are scarabs carved from semi precious stones. Do a search for gold filled scarab bracelet and you will see lots of them. They are fairly common and very popular.

 

Marie beat me to it. It's a classic scarab bracelet. The stones are semiprecious and carved to resemble ancient Egyptian beads. Scarab jewelry like this was sold in the 50s and well into the 60s. The better stuff was like yours, gold-filled with real stones. The later ones were often gold-tone and glass. You can also find matching pins, earrings, etc. I see agate, tigerseye quartz, rock crystal (quartz) and lapis.

 

NICE!!! Used to have a similar one back in the sixties.........

 

I bet I still have mine someplace. Everyone had one. They seemed to be selling well on Ebay a few years ago.
