Peculiar heart - what is it for?

    This little object is made of two puffy hearts connected near the top with a 1/4" band. It's heavy- 1.4 oz. and is unmarked.

    I don't think it's a bookmark, silverheart2.jpg silverheart1.jpg it would deform the pages because of the thickness, nor do I think it's a clip of some sort. Your thoughts?

    Is the piece connecting the hearts springy? It does look like it is meant to clip on to something, but as you said, would not be a good bookmark.
